This was always going to be a hard fixture for us
as the Knights grow an extra leg at home and we were coming off a weeks break,
but it became even harder after they scored 2 outstanding goals within the first
10 minutes. The boys were a bit slow out of the blocks and the top teams take any
chance presented, as the Knights did. Just before the 30 minute mark we got a
goal back through Matt Ollie and were unlucky not to go into the break
level after Matt missed an open goal right on half time.
We decided to try and take the game to the Knights
in the second half to get a result but this also left us a bit vunerable at the
back and the Croatians took advantage to get an other well taken goal. The
effort in the last part of the game was encouraging and we got back
into it with a goal from Umet with 10 mins to go. A fine free-kick by Ben Martin
hit the post and bounced out to them even though we had 3 players in the box.
The Knights are a very good team and scored from a great free-kick right on full
time to put us to bed.
The fact that we kept up the pressure and almost
got a point against a team that will be there in the semi's was a
positve we can take from this game.
Reserve GradeFor those of you who were at the Knights last Saturday, you would've
seen a great fighting effort from the Reserve Grade boys. I got the
impression the guys were left empty after the 2-2 result, but I was
extremely proud of how all the players aproached the game and played
for the 90 minutes.
As expected the Knights were very physical, but our guys did not take a
backward step. Going into the break 1-0 down we knew we had the skill
level to get back on top in the game. Good team goals to
JAYDE FLACK
and
BRAD CASHION put us ahead with only 25 minutes remaining.
Unfortunately they equalised with a soft goal shortly after, and
although we piled on the pressure to again win the game...we fell
wanting in front of goal. That being said a 2-2 result away from
home... having been down 1-0 is not to be discouraged. A very special
congratulations to
EVAN JONES who has adopted his role in the heart of
our defense... and continues to impress with his courage and work ethic.
We are still very well placed boys, with some tough games in the next
few weeks. One or two wins out of these fixtures would be critical to
our chances of finishing high up this year... so let's get to it.
Get out and support the Resi's
Cheers...LINDSAY.
Magic Youth 0 Knights 1 Saturday 17 May 2008
After a very intense and focused week of training the boys
just simply had a bad day. With some poorly directed passing and some incorrect
choices throughout the game they continued to put pressure on themselves, and
at the end of the first half were 1-0 down. Running with the wind in the second
half they battled courageously and managed to keep the half scoreless. The team
once again had many many chances but were unable to convert. Not many things
seemed to fall our way with most players having a hard time finding form. On a
positive note our defenders had an incredible game, very solid. I would like to
thank Lindsay and Tom for their efforts on the field and Lindsay for his words
of wisdom to the boys before during and after the match. We look forward to a
form reversal for our match of the round weekend against Burleigh. Supporters
this is you day as well. Hope to see you all there for the Youth kick-off at
2pm Sunday.

Alex Poletto was solid in defence. Our goalkeeper,

Jack Atkinson played a good positional game. As did
Mitchell Nye who supported the forward
movement with some good distribution.
Zac Gibbons spoiled many of the opposition's passes and did a lot of
good running.

Match Report Magic United Under 10 Red 17-05-2008
The team travelled to Mudgeeraba on Saturday for our match against Mudgee Orange.
Attila was sick so didn't come (get well and we will see you for
Tuesdays training) but all the others arrived nice and early for a
warm-up training session before the game, just to get ready.
The game was great and all kids played their hearts out. Ashley,
Tim, Jay and Aidan defended magnificently helping our champion goalie
Trent out - well done. Mudgee tried and tried but our team slowed their
scoring down. Mudgeeraba scored 3 goals while our champs kicked 6!!
The Coaches Player Of The Day trophy went to Brittany and the
parents decided that she deserved the certificate for Outstanding
Player as well - enjoy your Red Rooster.
No photos this week as Paul forgot the camera.
Remember Tuesdays training is at 4:15, see you there. And a big
thank you to Terry for filling in for me at the meeting last week.
Vicki, U10 Red Manager
As far as an under 8 game goes, our 4-4 draw versus the Knights last
Saturday was very rough and dirty. But I was just so proud of our
little team as they were not intimidated by the larger sized, and more
fancied Knights rivals. I can unbiasedly report that Magic just got on
with the job at hand... and showed a superior skill level and
positional sense.
H
ARRISON CORBEL was awarded the man of the match award, but players
OLIVER AUSTIN and TRAE STOCKMAN could just as easily have been given
the honour also. 2 goals to and 1 each to HARRISON and T
OLIVERRAE gave
us every chance of winning the game...but the Knights to their credit
did not give in, and managed to tie it up.
Also, I would like to apologise to my parenting group about my
behaviour towards the Knights coach. However I will not stand by to see
an opposition coach unfairly criticise our team of wonderful kids, who
are just giving their all. Makes for an interesting match next time
around though.
Again, very unlucky boys... but well done.
See ya Tuesday!
LINDSAY.
This is for Magic Under 7 Green...
"We played Nerang Red. The score was 4-all. I was captain. Alex
got player of the day. I got hit in the face twice by the ball. We
passed the ball to our players very well." By Cody Vickers
Thanks

U6 red
Well it was a case of too big to fast,
the magic u6 red boys were outclassed by a better team on the day,
however it did not dampen enthusiasm. Things should start to come
together for the boys over the next few weeks now we have a full team,
it was Matua Clarke’s first game and he displayed lots of potential,
with the help of the rest of his team mates James, Deacon, Titan, Cade,
and A J. The boys would like to thank their supporters (mums, dads and
family) for turning up every week and cheering us on, hopefully next
week we can turn things around. So see you at the game.
U6 red coach.
