Magic Minutes Vol 14

Newsletter Volume 14   Thursday 31 July

Hi everyone,

PREMIER LEAGUE MAKE IT 2 IN A ROW

Outstanding effort this week from the Premier League side with a good mid week win against Surfers, then backed it up with what can only be described as a GUTSY effort against the Top Of The Table Knights on Saturday. Good to see the return of the spirit and heart that put us on top of the table at the start of the season. Keep that up and the cup will be ours.

Duty of Care
I know we don't have long to go in the Roo Ball & junior Season, however, it has been brought to our attention that a small number of Kids are being left alone at training. PLEASE DO NOT just drop your children to training without making sure that your coach or manager is aware that you are leaving them unattended or leaving the ground. If you are leaving you must return at least 15 minutes before training finishes. Our club and its coaches - managers take on a HUGE responsibility to make sure you children are safe. HELP US OUT ON THIS. Remember at Football Training Nights & Game Day we all (including parents) have a responsibility for the safety of the children.

On a lighter note
I will be away all of next week in sunny Melbourne for a week (work not pleasure) if you send me your reports I will post them in the next volume on my return. Also keep the Business Info coming in for our web site Business Directory. If anyone is generating business from this I would like to hear from you. Good luck to all the Magic teams this weekend.

Premier League, one think to say "Make it all go quiet over there"
and CRUSH THEM LIKE A PEELED GRAPE.

Premier League Match Reports

Wednesday catch up match - Magic 3 v Surfers 2
The game kicked off at 8.15pm on a cold, wet night so this was a danger game for us against a new look Surfers team.
The first half was fairly even with both teams having chances to go ahead but it took a well taken goal by Umet just on half time to brake the dead lock. The second half started bad when Luke dropped a easy cross at the feet of a Surfers striker who side footed the ball in for a 1-1 scoreline.Soon after a defensive mistake gifted Surfers another soft goal, within 10 minutes we were now 1 behind and chasing the game.To the boys credit we stuck to our game plan and started to dominate the match in the last 30 mins resulting in an equaliser to Molly,as the clock ticked down we created numerous chances and finally finished one off with 5 to go when Luke tapped in at the far post for a well deserved 3-2 win.
The game finished at around 10 pm so the effort to keep going right up to end was very encouraging and is what is needed to compete at this level.

Cheers Brett

Saturday match - Magic 1 v Knights 0

This was the biggest test for our young team against a rampant Knights team who are top of the league and scoring 4-5 goals every game. Jade Flack was brought in to bolster our midfield as the Knights try to intimidate teams and he more than did the job and for once it was Magic who were doing the intimidating. Our defence were handling the Knights long ball game and our attack were breaking down their defence. Just on the 30 minute mark Umet finished off a raid down the right with an outside off the foot shot that left the keeper in disbelief. From then on it was all Magic as we started to take control of every aspect of the game, the intensity shown by the boys was top shelf and is what is needed to make the top 4 for the first time in a few years. A special mention to our defense who were rock solid and never looked like conceding.
Thanks to all the supporters who came out in the cold to watch what was an entertaining match. I hope you all come down to Burleigh as we play in the match of the round this Sunday at 4pm.

Cheers Brett

U10 Blue Match Report

Went down to Mudgeeraba White 4 - 1 (though the score does not reflect the standard of our boys' game).  We were unlucky not to score many times!
Positional play was fantastic this week. Mudgee's attack was limited by our good defensive pressure and the score was 0-0 at half-time.
Man of the Match this week was shared between Alex Poletto and Mitchell Nye - both boys did a lot of running and played a big role in our defence.
