Hi everyone, Thanks again for your efforts with the reports this week.
Nice to see Both Res & Prems get a win last night . Very cold and wet conditions. Shirts came off in the Premier League game (nice goal). Premier Reserves have that winning feeling and have been in good voice with the club song over the last couple of weeks. It was also nice to hear Premier League singing again last night (good to see they can remember the words it's been a while)

WE ARE THE CURRENT HOLDERS so lets defend it. GO MAGIC!!
Special thanks to Selina and the whole of the U6 Green team for donating a fantastic basket of goodies for the club to raffle last Saturday. Not just any basket each member of the team donated something which added a very nice personal touch to the prize. THANK YOU

2 UNLIKELY HEROES
The boys representing the Magic Reserve Grade side
again served the club well last weekend. They came up against a
spirited Mudgeereba outfit who threw absolutely everything at us.
Through an enormous team effort Magic hung on for a 1-0 win.
Midfielder CHRIS SLAVEN was in my opinion the player of the day. Along with CONNOR LAMBERT who took on a new role in the heart of the defense. However the the 2 unlikely heroes of the day would prove to be JOHN MARTIN and RANYLE SINGH.
Half way through the first half JOHN MARTIN put away a header at the far post from a great RON SINGH corner. Giving Magic
a deserved one goal lead going into the half time break. The boys
remained confident of going on with the job as we head out for the
second half.
However things did not go according to plan and it was
Mudgereeba who tested our defense as the game drew to a close. In the
very last kick of the game Mudgee took a corner that was perfectly
headed toward the top corner of our goal. Magic keeper, RANYLE SINGH,
much to my amazement and indeed relief, lept acrobatically to tip the
ball over the bar handing us the victory. Along with 4th place in the
compettition.
As a coach, looking to take things from a match, we
showed great heart to hold on for our win. I think the boys learned
that sometimes it's not always about being pretty, and just getting the
job done for maximum points. There was as much relief as anything in
our team song in the change rooms afterwards... but Mudgee still
would've heard that WE ALL PLAY FOR THE MAGIC FOOTBALL TEAM! Get out and support the Resi's. Cheers guys!

The team is finally back after the school holiday break and they are all ready to fire.
Coach
Johns friend Gino has stepped in to train the team and coach on the
Saturday game. Thanks Gino, a fantastic job you are doing, all the kids
love you - training in the pouring rain on Tuesday was a highlight for
them. My son, Aidan, and the others couldn't stop talking about it.
They all could not wait for Thursdays training to arrive.
Saturdays match was against Palm Beach Orange and it was a big
battle. A very tough match but our team gave it their all. We were a
few players down but the mighty U9Reds helped out - thanks heaps,
Frasier, Nicholas, Brendan, Malik and Ben.
In the second half they had clawed back to 2 all with all players
really going well. One shot that deserved a goal just hit the top bar
of the goals, it would have put our team in the lead. In the end the
powerful Palm Beach Orange got one more goal near full time. Score 2-3.
This was easily our teams toughest game, I think it was our best game
even if we didn't win. Well done to all!!! Everyone, and I really mean
everyone, deserved the Player of the Match certificate but I didn't
have enough to give out - congratulations to Trent and Atti. Atti also
gets the great trophy to take home until next match.
Gino, once again thanks for helping and coaching, the kids loved that you even brought water and cups for them! Thanks to Sean and Paul for stepping in and helping out when Gino asked. Vicki, U10red GO RED GO
U10 Blue defeated Robina City Red 7-4.
Most of the team concentrated heavily on offensive
play, which resulted in 7 goals.
We were lucky that the emphasis on attack and loss
of structure in defence did not result in more goals against us, especially the
2 goals scored against us in the last 5 minutes - fortunately, the game ended
before they could add more goals to their tally. All boys played a good passing game and made good
use of both sides of the field.
Magic United Blue U8 4 - GC Knights
Blue 1.
The game was great. Our first win for
some time. Jackson
was hurt early in the game but fought back hard to scored the first goal. Jeremy
then scored second - his first goal of the year. Alex was a great kicker. Sol
too. Oscar's crooked foot straightened up to kick some good balls. Thomas
also played a great game. Liam was also great in striker position. We made
heaps more passes than the other team. We all did some great kicks. We all had
fun.
