The Milko Told Me!

FINALS ARE IN SIGHT!

As I sat in the empty changing room as the boys went out to warm up I listened carefully to what the Nerang coach was telling his players and how he had planned to beat us last Saturday. Nerang came with a good side and a definite game plan to knock us out of contention. Which made it all the more satisfying for me when we rolled them 4-2.

There is a lot of things as a coach I need to improve on, but with our Reserve Grade squad I feel that there is nothing we can't achieve this season. It is most likely that we will finish fourth, and a grand final against whoever is not beyond us. That was clear to me after last Saturdays win.

In a true TEAM performance we put Nerang to bed. ADIS was promoted to start the game for us and was flawless in his work. CONOR LAMBERT was fantastic out wide with RON SINGH and JOEY MARTIN each having their best games of the season when it mattered most.

Capatain OWEN BAKER led us brilliantly again and opened the scoring. However Nerang hit back shortly afterward to draw it 1-1. I was totally thrilled with our first half performance
and were rewarded with a speculator from RON SINGH to put us ahead 2-1 at the break.

Nerang threw everything at us in the first 20 minutes after half time. They got one goal back to equalize in that period and looked like they might go on with it. Our defense held strong and midway through the second half I was able to give us the edge with some exellent work from JOEY MARTIN down the right flank. We killed them off in the last 10 minutes where I was able to repay the favour to JOEY for us to claim the victory.

So we are fourth with the final game remaining. A point out of Palm Beach next week will be enough for us to go through. We most certainly will be going for the win though. Thanks to everybody for their congratulations and appreciation for how the Resi's played last Saturday. I have passed on to the boys and we are keen to finish the season off well for the club.

Get out and support the Reserves,
LINDSAY.

EFFORT FOR NO REWARD

Because of the closeness of the Reserve Grade compettition every match for us is vital. We played Burleigh last Sunday and went down 2-0, slipping us out of the top 4 with only 2 games remaining. But am I disappointed about how the boys went about the match on Saturday? Not at all.
Reserves captain OWEN BAKER along with CHRIS SLAVEN and PHILLIP answered a call from the club to assist in our youth team (who were desperate for numbers). Was it a mistake on my behalf in allowing these boys to do this. I don't think so. For those that say YES, well.. can only do what I feel is best for the club at the time. For this the boys MUST be commended for putting the CLUB above themselves which I feel we need more attitude of at times. Similar praise to ADIS, ROBBIE and MITCH who backed up to fill holes in what became our depleted Reserve Grade outfit.
As mentioned earlier we battled hard in the heat. JOEY MARTIN unfortunately had his shot saved half way through the first half which may have changed the game but wasn't to be. I think GARY PARKIN was fantastic at the back and EVAN JONES was in my opinion the player of the match for MAGIC.
That leaves us with Nerang next week at home. We are 5th behind them by 4 goals only on the table. The importance of this match IS OUR SEASON. If we win...(put simply) We will finish 4th I believe. If we lose....they will. There is no more simpler equasion than that. I would like as much support as possible at MAGIC on Saturday so if you can please get out and support the Resi's.
Cheers, LINDSAY.

U10 Blue defeated Broadbeach United Blue convincingly 19 - 1!!

Broadbeach only had 7 players so we played 7 v 7.

Every single one of our field players scored!:

Alex Poletto            4
Mason Ponton        4
Alex Wild                 3
Harry Rudd             3
Kaysey Cowdery  2
Mitchell Nye           1
Oscar Carmock    1
Jack Atkinson       1

Some excellent passages of passing were exhibited throughout the match and it was pleasing to see so much unselfish play!

Jaydan Pankhurst again relieved our regular goalkeeper, who was absent, and proved a valuable team member by volunteering to stay in this position even though he was given the opportunity to play on the field at half time.

Player of the Match went to Mason Ponton.

U10 Blue were defeated by Bond Red 5 - 2.

Our goalkeeper, Jaylan Khatri, saved many of Bond's scoring attempts and kept the score down.

Oscar Carmock worked tirelessly all game.

Bond were relentless in their attack, which meant we spent most of the game in defensive mode. As a result, the midfield found it difficult to get consistent link up with our strikers and, therefore, our goal shooting ratio was lower than usual.

All the boys worked really hard!

Jaydan Pankhurst and Alex Wild were our goal scorers.

Man of the Match was shared between Jaylan Khatri and Oscar Carmock.

Thanks to Martin Wild, who filled in for Darrick in the coaching role this week and did a great job!

Under 9 Blue
Joe thinks the match on Saturday was one of the team's best matches this year .

Passing improved as the team spread out in defence and attack . Whilst we may not have scored as many goals as in other games we played this game with better strategies and team work . Our team's talking was good as players called for the ball and passes were made to players who were unmarked and could score .

Everthing else about the game was all good .

Under 9 Blue

A great game was played against Merrimac Red.
The score was 11 nil in our favour. Goals were kicked by many different players- Joel,l Steve, Luke, Tom,
Daniel B and Max.
Man of the Match was Steve for making great contact with the ball.
Tom is also worth mentioning for an outstanding performance. Well done everyone !!!

BOYS IMPRESS Under 8 Green

It's funny how even in the under 8's teams bring about a certain rivalry to one another. We have enjoyed a very good, compettitve relationship with the Nerang side we versed last Saturday. As a coach it is good to hear positive feedback from parents and coaches froim other clubs as to how they view your team. I am so proud of what our boys have achieved this year, and how far we have come in our attitude. Well done everyone.
The result, was a 2-0 win to magic. TRAE STOCKMAN doing the damage on both occasions. Young TRAE is learning that being a striker is not just about goal scoring but working hard to put your team mates in good postions also. Exellent mate.JACOB TAURIMA has the pressure of playing full back, and was a deserved MAN OF THE MATCH last week. Nerang are an exellent side, and he is the main reason that they were kept to nil. I quite often take for granted that I have such a fantastic defender so well done JACOB.
With Harrison and Lachlan missing for the game, I called upon my usuall 7th man COOPER BUDWEE along with LIAM who were just sensational, and fitted in so well. Thanks boys, you were great. Will see you all on Tuesday when we do it all again.

LINDSAY.
