There was always going to be one game of the season when the boys get
it mostly right...and most satisfyingly for me it was Musgrave copping
the brunt of it. In attempting a new formation the guys looked
dangerous in attack, but slightly exposed in defense early on. However
we perservered and things started to pay off.
LUKE WALLICOTT opened the account from left back with a great "wide man's" goal midway through the first half... and then Magic rolled on.
2 GOALS EACH to BRAD CASHION, JO MARTIN and
MYSELF gave us what was in the end an entertaining
7-1 win.
Youth player
PHILLIP (sorry mate don't know your surname) made an impressive impact from the bench and out of form utillity player
CHRIS SLAVEN turned things around this week with an enthusiastic performance.
Good win boys...need to back it up next week though.
Get out and support the Reserve grade if you can,

A nail biter against the Gold Coast
Knights but managed to come out on top 9-8.
We had a great first half (6-2) but made our own
lives difficult by letting the Knights back in in the second half with loose
marking and poor distribution. To the Knights' credit they did show great
tenacity and could very easily have come away with a draw or a
win!
Alex Wild went on a goal scoring
spree with 6 goals, showing some good individual skill and smart decision
making in his goal kicking!
Harry Rudd, Alex Poletto and Zac Gibbons all contributed to the score with 1 goal
each.
Jaydan Pankhurst provided good
support up front and was unlucky not to score.
Mitch Nye directly assisted 3
goals and provided many opportunities for the right-sided attack with some good
distribution. Jack Atkinson had a good passing
game in the first half. Kaysey Cowdery provided great
support up the left offensively and valuable cover defense. Mason Ponton made some solid
tackles as the last line of defence and held his defensive position
well. Jayden Khatri had to face a
barrage of goal shots in the second half and managed to get a touch on the last
shot at goal that prevented the game ending in a draw. Special mention goes to Oscar
Carmock, who turned up for the game even though he was quite
ill....desperate to play even though physically unable - great
team spirit, Oscar!!!!
Man of the Match went to Alex Wild
and Zac Gibbons.

Under 9 Blue Match Report
We visited Broadbeach with revenge on our minds (
if you know what I mean ) as they are the only team to beat us this year.
The last time we played B'Beach we were made to pay
for our poor finishing and to be honest it happened again on
Saturday.
We were completely dominant and could have spanked
them 4-5 nil had it not been for their in form goalkeeper.
Our defense was rarely troubled but dealt with
anything that was in front of them, and our goalkeepers could have caught a cold
they had so little to do.
Our midfield ran the show and broke down most
that Broady had to offer in attack. Broady stacked their defense and at one
time played with a back 5 and they proved hard to penetrate. When we did get
through to get a shot away their keeper stood tall and to his credit, he kept a
clean sheet.
Only one team turned up to play football and I'm
proud to say that it was our team. Boring Boring Broady was the call form the
sideline I'm afraid. Nil all it finished!
There were plenty of great performances
from the boys. Baylie stepped up when needed, Thom is learning his position and
continues to improve, Daniel Hogan was awesome again in defense, Sam was solid
as always, The midfielders Daniel , Max , Jarrod &
Joel would have slept well as they covered some miles and Steve and Sean
ran their socks off also.
The MOTM award was given to Max Fitzgerald for his
all action ,non stop effort. Well played mate.
Also a big thanks to the boys from Under 9 Red team
that came along to the Keith Hunt Carnival last Sunday at Musgrave. We
appreciated your help as we were a few players short for the day and we
hope that you guys ( and parents ) enjoyed the day as much as we did. There was
some good footy played and a good time had by all!

Magic United Blue 7 - 0 Nerang
Another brilliant performance from my boys. Good in both attack and
defence the boys managed to bag 7 goals between them.
Cooper
Budwee once again bagged 2 goals with two cool finishes.
Gus
Fitzgerald's hard work off the ball was rewarded with a well earned
hat-trick.
Joe Rudd again proved being in the right place at the right
time helps tapping a goal in for himself and it was great to see
Eli
Mathers grab himself a goal after putting pressure on Nerang's defence.
Well done boys keep up the good work.

A good time was had by all players on
the weekend, and it would appear there are some formal contract talks
that need to be sorted out when James Brooks was seen wearing the
opposition jersey on the weekend. It appears he wants more oranges and
cake to stay with the Red boys. Truth be known the other Magic United
team was short a player and James and was gracious enough to play with
them. He was quoted telling his coach he new a boy on that team that
goes to his school. There were some good moments during the game with A
J who was awarded best and fairest played one of his best games so far
with some nice kicks and tackles, Deacon Brent was definitely our most
improved player on the weekend with numerous attacking raids into the
opposition half (must be his dads coaching), Cade and Titan were our
two goal scorers well done boys and Matua is starting to find his feet
with a late start to the season and playing with more confidence each
week well done Matua.
Coach Richard.
But this week saw the boys rise and
continuously play the ball towards the Coomera goal. With three minutes to go
Magic scored to make the score line 2-1 Coomera. That was not enough for the
team as they then won the ball from the restart, played towards the Coomera
goal and then finally coming up with the equaliser with one minute to spare.
Had we had another couple of minutes we would have taken the 3 points.
The team
reached their lowest point against Palm Beach the week before, and now I
have no doubt that they are on their way back to show us all why we had high
expectations of them at the start of the season. Well done boys for the great effort
and character.
U10 Blue were defeated by Burleigh Heads Yellow 5 -
3.
Alex Wild had a good day up front scoring the 3
goals for our team.
Jaydan Pankhurst did very well in goals (as he is
normally a striker!!!) and spoiled quite a few scoring attempts by the
opposition.
Kaysey Cowdery can be admired for his efforts
running back to cover defend on many occasions.
Mitchell Nye had a good game running the ball out
of defence up our right side.
Loose marking, problems with our defensive
positioning and lack of leading up front proved to be our downfall and,
hopefully, the boys will learn from this and correct this deficiency for our
next game.
Not our finest hour but sometimes it takes these
games to learn what we need to do to be better next time, both individually and
as a team!!

Under 8 BlueT'was a wet, muddy game. Magic played really
well. The first half was very close with both teams scoring some goals.
Liam scored a fantastic goal from way out, so powerful it smashed the goal and
Alex scored two fantastic goals as well. Nerang Red got a few lucky goals in
the second half to beat us, but it was the best game that we have played all
year!
Congratulations to Alex Ceh for his Player of the Match performance.Nathan Williams

We were slow to get going this
week after nearly 4 weeks off due to rain and a bye. The boys found
themselves down 3 nil at half time with two home goals not helping
their cause. A quick orange break and some words of wisdom form the
coach sore the 4 weeks of rust come off with three unanswered goals 2
coming from the games best and fairest James Brooks and a blast from
just over halfway from our rock Titan Beer the second half seen some
good work done by Caden Berry, Deacon Brent, A J, and Matua Clarke
unfortunately a last minute goal sunk the boys hopes of pulling off a
miraculous win.
I would like to thank the boy's parents
who turned up for canteen duty from 7.30 to 11.30 and worked hard, well
done mums and dads, we will see you all at the game next week.
Coach Richard.
